• US State of Hawaii recognizes Khojaly Massacre

On the occasion of 24th anniversary of Khojaly tragedy the governor of the State of Hawaii (USA) David Ige signed a declaration of recognition of this tragedy. This was reported to Minval on Monday, February 15 by the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles.
 
In the declaration, on behalf of the people of Hawaii, the governor expressed his deepest sorrow for Khojaly tragedy and stressed the importance of commemorating the innocent victims of the massacre, subjected to senseless violence.
 
The document states that the Khojaly massacre, which took place on the night from 25th to 26th of February 1992, resulted in the deaths of more than 600 innocent civilians. The Governor noted that the memory of victims of Khojaly tragedy must be honored to ensure that similar acts of violence never happen again.
 
At the end of the declaration Gov. David Ige wished that such a tragic event may never again occur in the pages of history.
It is noteworthy that by this document the number of US states that have recognized and condemned the Khojaly Massacre has reached 19.
